With the ladders being manufactured in aluminum, making them lightweight, this means you can hand carry the components through the service elevator or staircase if needed. No need for a crane rental or special equipment to install the unit. Unlike a fully welded steel hatch ladder where special lifting equipment would be mandatory.
The width of the hatch ladders ensure a one size fits all. With our units being modular it is very easy to customize the height of the ladder to best meet your needs.
The end of the ladder finishes below the hatch opening, ensuring that the hatch can easily be closed after climbing. To ensure a safe climb through the hatch, Skyline ladders include extendible stiles that enable you to maintain three points of contact while climbing out of the hatch onto the rooftop.
It is best practice to close the hatch when the hatch is not in use, ensuring there is no accident where someone can fall through the hatch. This can be inconvenient as the hatch ladder may be a high traffic area during maintenance of rooftop units, as a result we recommend a hatch barrier and gate solution. You can then leave the hatch open knowing that a guardrail and gate is in place to protect anyone from falling into the hatch opening.
Fixed access ladders located outside of the building are often locked. Due to the nature of hatch ladders they are usually easily accessible, although the hatch may be locked. As a result, unauthorized access is generally prohibited whether you are accessing the roof from the hatch or the outdoor fixed access ladder.
