When this isn’t possible, an extension ladder stabilizer locks in the portable extension ladder for additional safety, reducing the chances of the extension ladder sliding or moving while climbing.
Normally the ladder stabilizer will be compatible with all extension ladders that have a standard rung size. It is always best to check with the manufacturer of the ladder stabilizer to ensure proper use and installation.
With the use of hand tools and/or standard electric tool sets, your local contractor will be able to install the Skyline extension ladder stabilizer.
The purpose of the extension stabilizer is to ensure the portable extension ladder is placed on the stabilizer the same way every time, ensuring it locks into place for safe usage. The portable extension ladder is what would be adjusted in order to meet the building’s height requirements, along with the stabilizer that would be placed near the edge of the roof. Once the stabilizer is installed, it is left there for future use. This system is commonly used as a temporary solution until a proper fixed access ladder is installed.
